War Update 2: Fountain is broken
It’s been four weeks since we announced our intentions to remove the Imperium from their space, and yesterday The Initiative evacuated Fountain. With that we can officially say that Phase 1 of the war is complete. The plan for the first phase of the war was to attack Imperium on three fronts, forcing Goons to stay at home which would isolate Initiative in Fountain. We completed this phase much faster than expected, in large part thanks to all of your efforts. Legacy drew the toughest assignment of this plan, needing to put up a credible threat against Goons supercap and capital umbrella using only subcap fleets crossing regional gates in order to keep them from going to Fountain. This allowed Panfam and TEST capitals to achieve dominance in Fountain, which is what ultimately drove Initiative to evacuate.
We accomplished this task with more success than I ever thought possible. For weeks we were able to defeat Goon subcap fleets on their side of the border, forcing them to restage capital fleets to Period Basis, and finally forcing them to form and drop super fleets every time we enter their space. Even still we have managed to kill ihubs and make progress using only subcaps against supercapitals. Now, a month in, Goons have finally adapted to our tactics and are countering most of our incursions with their supercarriers. That we were able to burn all of Fountain down before they could finally adapt to our tactics is a true testament to your efforts so far.
We now prepare for the next phase of the war, which will involve us shifting our forces around yet again. This will take time, and during that time things will get harder for us than they already have been. Initiative now lives in 1DQ1 with the rest of Imperium, which means that instead of seeing an occasional Initiative fleet in our battles, they will be at every battle. This will stack the odds against our probing attacks even more, but we must keep up the pressure on Imperium. So far we’ve been able to stretch Goons thin and done considerable damage, as their numbers in fleet have been slowly dropping, and their FCs are already starting to burn out. We must continue to wear them down before phase three of the war, which is coming soon.
To accomplish this goal, we will be changing our strategy going forward. Legacy alliances will now be getting specific assignments, similar to the Fraternity war, as we look to skirmish Goons across a wider front and throughout the day. In addition, we will be making extensive use of our new doctrines, which will be announced by your alliances with fits. It is imperative that for the next few weeks, you are ready to fight with all of our doctrines at a moment’s notice, as flash forms and speed will be our advantage. Do not wait to buy ships, make sure you have them ready in your hangers and make sure you have an individual plan to get back to staging and into fleet as fast as possible at all times. These next few weeks will be tough and bloody, but if we continue to apply pressure during this time, then we’ll be one step closer to final victory. Be on the lookout for pings, and I’ll see you all on the battlefield.
